Mrs Mad's humble opinion
10/10 Excellent work. Well done!
What's it about?
How can Mandy cope with the bullying at school? Perhaps her new amazing friend Tanya will sort out the bullies.
What happens?
Mandy is an only child with an over-protective mother. She has always been bullied at school and worries that if teachers or parents get involved, the bullying will get worse. When Tanya comes to stay at the house over the road, Mandy's dreams come true, or so it seems. Tanya is older, bigger, brighter and likes Mandy. Surely everything will be OK now?
Is it easy to read?
I would highly recommend this book to all young readers. There should be a copy in all class libraries. This would be a good lead in to discussions of topics like bullying.
Anything else?
Another incredible book from Jacqueline Wilson. The topic here is one which is unfortunately all too familiar to many young people. This is well written and totally believable and, as with all of her books, there is a thread of hope, encouraging victims to be strong and not give in to the bullies.
Other books by Jacqueline Wilson include Buried Alive!, Cliffhanger, Connie and the Water Babies, Double Act, Dustbin Baby, Girls in Love, Girls Out Late, Girls Under Pressure, Glubbslyme, How to Survive Summer Camp, Lizzie Zipmouth, Lola Rose, Midnight, My Brother Bernadette, Secrets, Sleepovers, The Bed and Breakfast Star, The Cat Mummy, The Dare Game, The Illustrated Mum, The Lottie Project, The Mum-Minder, The Story of Tracy Beaker, The Suitcase Kid, The Werepuppy, Twin Trouble, Vicky Angel.

Mandy has been picked on at school for as long as she can remember. That's why she can't believe it when cheeky, daring, and fun Tanya wants to be her friend. But Mum thinks Tanya is not a suitable friend at all and, when Mandy discovers Tanya shoplifts, she realises there may be trouble ahead.
And what do you think?

We think this book is a definite 10 out of 10. It is also rather educational because of the lesson learnt from bullying. The cover also persuaded us because of its vibrant colours. We recommend this book to ages 8 and over. Well done Jacqueline Wilson!!!!
