Karen King's humble opinion
9/10 Very good. I am pleased with this.
What's it about?
This is a lovely story about four friends, Otter, Mole, Fox and Hare and how the others cope when Fox dies.
What happens?
Otter, Mole, Fox and Hare are all good friends, they live together and love each other dearly. But Fox is old and one day he dies. His friends are so sad they find it difficult to carry on with their life. Then Squirrel comes to visit and shows them that Fox is still there, in hearts ...always and forever.
Is it easy to read?
Its target audience is young children under seven and aims to teach children how to cope with the death of a loved one. It's an easy to read, entertaining and moving story. The gentle, expressive and exquisitely detailed artwork brings the story alive and draws the reader in. A lovely book that will be a comfort to any child who has suffered a similar loss.
Anything else?
Alan Durant's previous work includes Dear Tooth Fairy and Big Bad Bunny whilst Debi Gliori has illustrated many picture books such as Tell me Something Happy Before I got to Sleep. She wrote and illustrated Penguin Post .

This review by Karen King.
The publisher reckons...
When Fox dies, the rest of his family are distraught. How will Mole, Otter and Hare go on without their beloved friend? But months later, Squirrel reminds them all of how funny Fox used to be, and they all realize that Fox is still there in their hearts and memories.
