Mrs Mad's humble opinion
9/10 Very good. I am pleased with this.
What's it about?
Being yourself and accepting friends as they are
What happens?
Black spider wants Yellow bird to do things his way, he cannot understand why his friend does the odd things he does. But Yellow bird carries on and even surprises us at the end.
Is it easy to read?
A good book to read with a child.
Anything else?
This book caused a great deal of laughing when I read it to my daughters. They loved the quirky ending, and it is a favourite at the moment. They are nearly four and just beginning to recognise the idea of humour and jokes, so this is well timed for them. A great read.
Who says so?
This review by Mrs Mad.
The publisher reckons...
Yellow Bird, is an individualist who just wants to do his own thing. Staying in hotels, eating ice-cream, wearing socks and playing the guitar are just some of his jolly pastimes. Sadly, Black Spider disapproves and attempts to encourage Yellow Bird to be more conventional. In this delightful and anarchic picture book, the individualist definitely wins out in the end with a spectacularly unexpected conclusion.
