Poltergeist
by Anthony Masters (more about Anthony Masters) 209/138
Horror & Ghosts for ages 8 to 12 published by Orchard Books
Mrs Mad's humble opinion
7/10 This is quite a good piece of work.
What's it about?
What terrible secrets do the toys in the attic hold for Jenny and David?
What happens?
Jenny and her brother David know there are such things as ghosts and spirits. So they are not surprised when strange things start to happen in the old Victorian house they have recently moved into. Their father puts it all down to static electricity, but his children know better. They set out to unravel the tragedy that has left such sadness behind. As they do so they learn all about the boy who saved his sister's life only to lose his own. This sad restless spirit feels he has been deserted by his family and seems to be unaware that he is dead.
Is it easy to read?
This is a great book for any boy who is struggling to find something decent to read. Girls will like this too. It is gripping and easy to get into.
Anything else?
Anthony Masters writes really well, his storylines are clear and well structured. It moves briskly along and keeps the reader entertained. Anyone who has read Goosebumps will find this series of books much more interesting and with better plots.
Other books by Anthony Masters include Haunted School, Joker, Phantoms in the fog, Ravens' Revenge.
