Mrs Mad's humble opinion
7/10 This is quite a good piece of work.
What's it about?
An alien's view of Earth babies.
What happens?
Aliens are coming to Earth to find out what life is like here. Before they set off they have to learn all about babies and what they do. Then they can all dress up as Earth children and board the spaceship on their way here.
Is it easy to read?
This is an hilarious book that anyone could read and enjoy. It has many levels apart from the basic story book for young children. In schools it can be very useful in History lessons to get across the idea of looking at the ordinary things that happen in people's lives and interpreting them in a sensible way.
Anything else?
See also Dr Xargle's Book of Earth Tiggers, Dr Xargle's Book of Earth Hounds, Dr Xargle's Book of Earth Mobiles, Dr Xargle's Book of Earth Relations, and Dr Xargle's book of Earth Weather, by the same author.
Other books by Jeanne Willis include The Amazing Adventures of Jimmy Scar.
Who says so?
This review by Mrs Mad.
The publisher reckons...
Somewhere, out in the universe, a class of schoolchildren are being given a lecture on Earthlets by the celebrated Dr Xargle. The illustrations make everything clear and the ordinariness of the scenes he shows contrasts vividly with Dr Xargle's interpretation of standard Earthlet behaviour.
