Pat Posner's humble opinion
9/10 Very good. I am pleased with this.
What's it about?
A brilliant book for children with divorced parents - or just a Dad
What happens?
A little girl starts by thinking of all the weird uncool things about Dad's new girlfriend. And, maybe, she's feeling a bit jealous when she tells us: 'Dad calls her Sweetie Pie. I don't call her anything'. But after the uncool things, come the friendly and loving things - ending on an amusing but warm thought.
Is it easy to read?
Looks as if it's written (neatly) by the little girl. Easy to read and understand.
Anything else?
Funny, sympathetic and upbeat. Chris Monroe's brightly-coloured illustrations and the expressions on the characters' faces really add to the story. Totally Uncool was first published in the USA in 1999.
Who says so?
This review by Pat Posner.
The publisher reckons...
A gentle exploration of the challenges of adjusting to a single parent's new companion.
